Supporters of Katrina Shankland for Congress should make sure WI-03 likely Democratic Primary voters read in their mailboxes and see information online (YouTube and streaming) about Katrina. These communications should emphasize Katrina’s experience passing bipartisan laws and working with anyone to get things done. Important thematic messages are:
  1. State Representative Katrina Shankland is a lifelong Wisconsinite who knows how to get things done. She has the experience to go to Congress and hit the ground running. In the State Legislature, she has passed 225 bipartisan laws and got them signed by Republican and Democratic governors – laws to make health care affordable, help farmers and first responders and strengthen clean water laws.
  2. Katrina will work with anyone – Democrat or Republican - to get things done for workers, farmers, and families.
  3. Experience matters. Katrina Shankland is the only Democrat running for Congress who has ever held public office and passed bills into law.

If the above themes are established, other critical issues listed sequentially include:

  • In Congress, Katrina will fight to restore a woman's freedom to make her own health care decisions and oppose a national abortion ban
  • Raised by public school teachers, Katrina believes it's high time we give teachers a raise. In Congress, she will work to ensure we are fairly funding our public schools and reducing our over-reliance on property taxes
  • Katrina thinks big pharmaceutical companies have too much power, and both parties are to blame. They're making record profits while Western and Central Wisconsin families struggle to pay for medications. That's why she passed several state laws to greatly reduce the price of certain prescription drugs, and, in Congress, she will stand up to Big Pharma to negotiate lower drug prices
